Dreambeans, the AI-powered app that turns scattered pieces of your Google life into illustrated daily “stories,” is now available to every Google account holder aged 18 and older in the United States on both Android and iOS. No paid subscription required.

What began in June 2026 as an exclusive for Google AI Ultra subscribers has graduated, after intermediate expansions, to full consumer access. The move marks a notable shift: a highly personal, data-hungry experiment is no longer gated behind Google’s most expensive AI tier.


What Exactly Is Dreambeans?


Dreambeans is not another endless social feed. It is a finite daily collection of short, AI-generated “stories” (each one called a dreambean) designed to surface things you might care about or act on. Think of it as a highly personalized, illustrated alternative to Google Discover or a more visual cousin of Gemini’s Daily Brief.

Every morning, after processing overnight, the app presents a capped set of stories—typically in the range of 10–14 according to early testers—covering topics such as places to explore, shows or content to watch, upcoming events, things to try with friends or family, travel ideas, or reminders tied to real life. The goal, Google emphasizes, is inspiration without the infinite scroll.

The name itself is deliberate. Product manager Gozde Oznur has explained that the “dream” part refers to the system working while you sleep, distilling vast amounts of personal context. The “beans” evoke a freshly brewed morning coffee: a concentrated drop of inspiration ready when you wake.


How It Works: Personal Intelligence + Nano Banana 2


Under the hood, Dreambeans relies on two key Google technologies:

  • Personal Intelligence: This is the system that connects and interprets signals across your Google apps (with permission) to build a coherent picture of what matters to you right now. It powers personalization in Gemini and related features.
  • Nano Banana 2: Google’s image generation model that creates the distinctive, often storybook- or watercolor-style illustrations accompanying each story. When Google Photos is connected, these illustrations can incorporate likenesses of you and people close to you.


You choose which apps to connect. Supported sources include Gmail, Calendar, Photos, Search history, YouTube, and (as of the broader rollout) Gemini. At least one connection is required for the app to function; more connections generally produce richer, more specific stories.

A classic Google example: A Gmail confirmation that puppy treats arrived, combined with a Calendar entry for a friend visiting, could surface training tips plus recommendations for nearby dog-friendly restaurants. Another common pattern involves travel: Calendar trip details + recent YouTube travel videos + Photos from past vacations can yield highly tailored destination ideas or activity suggestions.

Google Photos integration stands out. Stories can feature illustrated versions of you and loved ones actually doing the suggested activity, and the app may propose ways to spend time together. Setup typically takes up to a day for the first set of stories to generate. The experience is designed as a finite daily batch rather than an addictive feed.

  • June 3, 2026: Launch for eligible Google AI Ultra subscribers (18+) in the US on Android and iOS, with a waitlist for others.
  • Later expansions: Access broadened to Google AI Pro (and reportedly AI Plus) subscribers.

The app remains US-only and age-gated at 18+. It is still labeled a Google Labs experiment, meaning it could evolve, expand, or eventually fold features into other products such as the Gemini app.
