Samsung to Launch Subscription for Galaxy Phones Next Month



Samsung is reportedly planning to introduce a new “AI subscription” for Galaxy devices as soon as next month, according to news from CES 2025. However this isn't a subscription for Galaxy AI features, but rather for the hardware itself. 


The Subscription service will be available in the US and Korea and it will include an installment plan and some after sales services.  While the “AI subscription” name is likely a placeholder it's worth noting that Samsung previously hinted at potential limitations for Galaxy AI features after 2025.

  • Increased Accessibility:A subscription model could make premium Galaxy phones more accessible to a wider range of consumers, especially those who prefer to spread the cost over time.

  • Enhanced Consumers Loyalty: By encouraging ongoing subscriptions, Samsung could cultivate stronger customer loyalty and build a more recurring revenue stream. 

  • Competition with Apple: This move could intensify competition with Apple, which has successfully established a strong ecosystem around its iPhone and subscription services like Apple Music and Apple TV+. 


What to Expect from the Galaxy S25 Series


The Galaxy S25 series is set to officially launch on January 22nd at an event in San Jose, California. Pre-orders will open shortly after but the customers can place a free reservation today to receive a $50 credit and up to $1,200 in additional savings.


What Remains to Be Seen

  • Pricing and Plans: The Specific pricing tiers and subscription options are still unknown.

  • Device Availability: Will the subscription service cover all Galaxy models or will it be limited to flagship devices?.

  • Services Availability: In which markets will the subscription service be initially available.
